When prosthetics is used
Prosthetic dentistry is used:
• to restore the damaged crown part of a tooth with an artificial covering — a crown or a veneer;
• to replace a missing tooth with fixed (bridges, implant-supported prostheses) or removable (dental plates) dentures.
The most suitable solution for each case is determined by the dentist, taking into account the extent of the tooth damage, the number of missing teeth and the patient's individual preferences.
Dental plates
Dental plates are a considerably more affordable type of denture, as their fabrication does not require attachment to implants or adjacent teeth. There are two types of dental plates:
Partial dentures
Replace one or several teeth and are held in the mouth by metal clasp fasteners.
Complete dentures
Replace all the teeth of a jaw and stay in place through suction against the mucous membrane of the oral cavity.

Dental crowns
Dental crowns protect the tooth from further damage and restore its function and appearance. They are used when a tooth has been severely affected by caries, erosion or trauma and can no longer be restored with an ordinary filling. In our clinic, patients can choose crowns made of different materials that differ in price, durability and aesthetic properties — the dentist will help select the most suitable option.
Dental bridges
Dental bridges are a fixed prosthetic solution that replaces one or several adjacent missing teeth. Both ends of the bridge are fixed to previously placed implants or to ground-down adjacent teeth, which in the process lose part of their natural tooth tissue. For this very reason, an implant that does not affect the neighbouring healthy teeth is often the preferable solution for replacing a missing tooth.

What is the difference between the functionality of crowns made of different materials?
Ceramic crowns are made from pressed ceramic. They have a truly natural and aesthetic appearance, as they reflect light in the same way as natural teeth. Excellent for anterior restorations, but not suitable for bridges.
Metal-ceramic crowns are an aesthetic and durable solution, including the point of the price. These crowns have a metal frame inside, which is covered with a light porcelain or ceramic layer, which makes the crown durable and opaque.
Zirconium crowns are made of zirconium oxide, they are durable and do not lose their aesthetic appearance during operation. These crowns are very firmly attached to the tooth enamel, so they fit well to the gums.

When can implant prosthetics be performed?
During prosthetics on implants in our clinic, zirconium and ceramic constructions are most often used. Prosthetics can be started 4-6 months after the installation of the implant, allowing it to 'take root'. When everything has healed and the dentist has re-examined the implantation site, an impression is taken to make an independent crown or bridge.

How is prosthetics performed?
During the first consultation, the dentist assesses the general health of the patient's teeth and determines the most appropriate type of prosthesis. If the dentist and the patient have agreed on the manufacture of dentures, then at the end of the first consultation, an impression of the teeth is taken. And the dentist sends it to the technical laboratory for the manufacture of dentures. During nexts visits, the prostheses are tried on the patient and, if necessary, sent back to the technical laboratory for correction.

Prosthetic hygiene at home
In order for dentures, the patient's natural teeth and oral hygiene to be healthy, several conditions for the care of removable dentures and the oral cavity must be observed:
Dentures should be removed at night to allow the oral mucosa to rest and to reduce the risk of cavities and plaque formation. During sleep, the production of saliva is less, so saliva does not clear the oral cavity of bacteria.
Dentures should be cleaned with a toothbrush while taking them out of the mouth. There are also special toothbrushes and pastes for cleaning dentures.
After removing the prosthesis from the mouth, it is necessary to thoroughly brush the teeth. Even if one's own teeth are missing, the mouth should be brushed with an ultra-soft or surgical toothbrush to stimulate circulation and remove plaque.
To ensure the hygiene of the prosthesis, it is recommended to use special products (for example: tablets that dissolve in water) that disinfect the prosthesis.
